This two-part course will look at how to get started with identifying mosses and liverworts, known collectively as bryophytes. These fascinating plants are often overlooked but have beautiful intricate structures as well as being important species in the environment. These species flourish in the cooler months so now is the time to start looking at them. This course will focus on a small number of common species found on walls and in woodland and their distinctive features. No prior knowledge is necessary.
Ryan is passionate about recording wildlife, especially Britain’s less well-known species. He has a particular interest and passion for bryophytes, bees, beetles and flowering plants. Ryan started recording bryophytes as a way to focus his winter walks but fell in love with their intricacy, beauty and importance.
Course attendees will receive a Zoom link ahead of the first session. If you are new to Zoom, you can find more information about using it at their website here.
