Situated in the Lower Derwent Valley this rich landscape of woodland, meadows, riverside and historic monuments is home to a variety of birds including green woodpecker, kingfisher, dipper and of course the iconic red kite. In early summer the songs of visiting warblers can be heard throughout the woods while flocks of martins, swallows and swifts fly over the imposing Nine Arches Viaduct.

We will meet in the courtyard of the Land of Oak and Iron Heritage Centre situated on the A694 at Winlaton Mill. Parking is free.
