At the end of the workshop, you will have made your very own, framed piece of artwork to take away with you ready to hang on your wall or give away as a hand-crafted Christmas gift.
Ruth’s work draws heavily on illustration techniques seen in the Victorian times, often, in these illustrations animals were given human qualities and were often drawn with detailed outfits, accessories and living environments.
Victorian Christmas cards often had strange and wonderful animal scenes depicted on them and were given to friends and family as a humorous Christmas greeting. In this creative workshop, Ruth will introduce you to some lovely examples of Victorian illustration and then guide you through the process of making your very own illustrated character based on the wildlife that lives in Gosforth Nature Reserve.
