Description
Join us for an evening with Mel Rockett, talking about the UK's largest Water Vole reintroduction project
Water voles are making a dramatic comeback across the UK. In this special evening event at Great North Museum: Hancock, NHSN welcomes Mel Rockett, lead volunteer on Northumberland Wildlife Trust's ten-year project to reintroduce the water vole to Kielder Forest - the largest such project in the UK.
Mel's book, 'Ratty Restored: A Vole, A Mink and a Man' tells the story of the Kielder vole project in all of its ups and downs, with a wealth of anecdote and adventure. In this event, he'll be telling that story in person, and reflecting on his time spent in the North East's wiuld landscapes as an educator and wildlife volunteer.
As ever, this Nature's Cure event will feature refreshments, Q&A, the opportunity to buy copies of Mel's book, and a display of some of materials from the North East Nature Archive courtesy of the Nature's Cure NHSN team.
