Book your NHSN members’ exclusive holiday to Orkney with Naturetrek
This year, we’re delighted to once again bring you the chance of an NHSN Members exclusive holiday with Naturetrek and an opportunity to experience some of the best wildlife the UK has to offer. By taking part, you’ll help NHSN inspire wonder in young people across the North East with a percentage of each booking donated to our Young People’s Lantern Fund Appeal.
Orkney: Friday 27 May – Wednesday 1 June 2022, 6 days, £1095
On this single-centre holiday, we will seek out the varied wildlife and sample the ancient history of this fascinating group of islands, which are just a short hop from the Scottish mainland but retain their own identity. Based in the island capital, Kirkwall, we will make daily excursions on the Orkney Mainland and on one day will take a ferry trip to the northern isle of Westray. We will enjoy both the island’s renowned antiquities, including the Neolithic village of Skara Brae, and its spectacular wildlife – from the huge seabird colonies of Noup Head on Westray to the moorland specialities such as Hen Harrier and Short-eared Owl; and there’s also a possibility of encountering Otters and the endemic Orkney Vole. We will not ignore the island’s flora as we seek out specialities such as the extremely localised Scottish Primrose and Oyster Plant.
This holiday is limited to 8 places only, so please book early. For more information or to book, please call the Naturetrek office on 01962 733051 or email barney@naturetrek.co.uk
