Can you help put your office support and administration skills to good use in our office based in the Great North Museum: Hancock? We are looking for a friendly and organised volunteer to help with a variety of office tasks.

About this Opportunity
Do you have superb office administration skills, strong experience of online systems such as a membership database and the MS Office suite including MS Excel, excellent attention to detail and a friendly and welcoming manner? We are looking for an Office Volunteer to work in our busy office helping to supply efficient and friendly service to our wonderful members.
Time Commitment
As an Office Volunteer, you would be based in our office on the second floor of the Great North Museum: Hancock, helping with all sorts of administrative and support tasks for around 2-3 days per month.
Main Activities
The role could include a wide variety of tasks such as:
- Preparing items for posting, including creating packs to be sent to new members, filling envelopes with new or renewed membership cards.
- Processing visitor log sheets from Gosforth Nature Reserve
- Processing Gift Aid forms (paper and online) from members and visitors to Gosforth Nature Reserve
- Updating our membership database including adding new members’ details
- Administration of event feedback cards
- Helping to organise our extensive nature image library
- Printing tasks
- Creating posters
- Helping with telephone or in-person enquiries
- Helping with our busy mailout day 3 times per year
- Any other similar tasks that arise
About You
- You will be friendly, welcoming and keen to provide excellent service in all aspects of dealing with NHSN members, visitors and the administration and support of our membership database
- You will have worked in a busy office environment, be organised and able to work accurately and with very good attention to detail
- You will have carried out trusted work on membership databases
- You will have good experience of the full MS Office suite including Excel, and ideally some graphic design experience with Canva
- You’ll be enthusiastic about wildlife, natural history and the wider work of NHSN

- You’ll receive full training and support associated with the systems and processes used in the role
- You’ll meet new people, make new friends, and form part of a diverse team, passionate about nature and supporting our members to receive the best experience we can provide
- You’ll encounter naturalists from all walks of life – sharing their knowledge of the natural world
