Join Stephanie Little for a flash fiction creative writing workshop with a museum, heritage, and archives twist, where you'll uncover hidden stories and create compelling narratives that breathe life into the past.
Event lead: Rachel Anderson, Heritage Researcher
Event length: One session. Tuesday 3 June, 2pm - 4:30pm
Meet at: NHSN Offices, Second Floor, Great North Museum: Hancock
Event cost: £15 for NHSN members, £20 for non-members
About this Event/Course
Flash fiction stories get right to the heart of the matter in 500 words or fewer, making them perfect for beginners to dip their toes, or for experienced writers to experiment. In this session, spend some time amongst the treasures of NHSN's North East Nature Archive, and then use your imagination to bring them to life. You might try filling in the gaps in their histories, or use them as inspiration to jump off into a whole new world.
Your creativity will be guided through a series of exercises aimed at generating ideas for your flash piece, then writing a first draft, then refining it. All levels of writing experience are welcome.
Light refreshments provided.
Accessibility
The NHSN offices are fully accessible via a lift towards the rear of the museum.
