About this Event

The Oxford Limestone outcrops on the coast opposite Monks House, between Seahouses and Bamburgh. A variety of features can be seen, including folds, faults and fossils. All the elements of a Yoredale cyclothem are present including limestone, shale, sandstone, seatearth and coal. Just to the north, the Islestone outcrop of Whin Sill appears, lower down the shore. Distance around 2-3 miles. This is the last geology trip of 2025.

Accessibility

This walk may include slopes, rocky areas and areas of uneven or steep ground.

Essential equipment

Sturdy footwear, outdoor clothing, and lunch.
