Online Talk: Bucking the Trend on Coquet Island

daily dose of nature is important and despite current circumstances, there is no reason why we cannot continue to learn about and appreciate the natural world. Even from the comfort of our own homes.

At NHSN, we want to help ensure that everyone can continue to study and enjoy the natural world during these difficult times. That’s why, over the coming weeks, we’re making a number of our natural history talks available online for all to enjoy.

This week, we’re delighted to share a talk by RSPB Warden for Coquet Island, Paul Morrison, who discusses the conservation work supporting Britain’s only sustainable colony of Roseate Terns.

Coquet Island is an important seabird colony off the Northumberland coast which is home to the UK’s only substantial colony of Roseate Terns. The number of pairs breeding there has increased steadily over recent years, making it the country’s last sustainable colony of these iconic seabirds.

Join Paul Morrison, RSPB warden for Coquet Island, to hear about the way in which the island is managed for breeding seabirds.
