Plan A 1500 pledges for North East Nature!

In this blog, we celebrate the success of the Plan A for North East Nature project, which has engaged 1500 children across Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.

I will plant flowers in my garden for the bees and butterflies.

Francesca, age 6

Started in 2022, the Plan A project engaged with primary school children across Tyne and Wear and Northumberland, with the aim of inspiring children to learn more about the natural world and what they can do to protect it.

Children experienced the natural world on their doorstep, through the five pathways to nature connection – senses, emotion, beauty, meaning, and compassion. Almost 100 sessions were supported by committed Volunteer Education Rangers, delivering activities such as scavenger hunts, arts and crafts.

The result was receiving 1,500 pledge cards from children who were getting outside and appreciating nature where they explored and discovered the joys of the natural world. This project was made possible with funding from the Community Foundation Tyne and Wear and Northumberland and the Community Fund.
