From the great whin sill to myriad quarries and fossil-rich coastal sites, we are fortunate to have fascinating and world-class geological formations in Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and County Durham.
Many NHSN members are passionate about exploring this fantastic natural resource and regularly take part in field trips and activities organised by NHSN.
NHSN also owns a fantastic collection of rocks, minerals and fossils as part of its collections in the Great North Museum: Hancock. As well as visiting the museum, you can explore some of this collection online, click here.
